Between Heaven and Earth

Salma and Tamer, a Palestinian couple in their thirties, have been married for five years. Salma is from Nazareth, while Tamer is the son of a famous intellectual revolutionary who was killed in Beirut. The first time Tamer receives permission to cross the Israeli checkpoint is to file for divorce from his wife. In court, they make a shocking discovery about the past of Tamer's father and have 72 hours to find a needed document before his permit expires.

Miroslav Terzić

Born in Belgrade in former Yugoslavia in 1969, he studied international law at the city’s university before taking a postgraduate degree in its Faculty of Dramatic Arts. His debut feature film, Redemption Street, premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival and went on to screen at the São Paulo International Film Festival. He also works as a director for major marketing agencies.

 

 

Stitches

Based on true events, STITCHES takes place in contemporary Belgrade, 18 years after a young seamstress was coldly informed of her newborn's sudden death. She still believes the infant was stolen from her. Dismissed by others as paranoid and with a mother’s determination she summons the strength for one last battle against the police, the hospital bureaucracy and even her own family to uncover the truth.

A Comedian in a Syrian Tragedy

This documentary is a chronicle of a revolution and war, experienced by the famous Syrian actor Fares Helou. Fares’ life changed radically when he joined the people in the streets of Damascus calling for the fall of the Syrian regime. He immediately had to go underground, and director Rami Farah joined him in hiding with a camera. When Fares had to flee from Syria to France, Rami followed him. However, neither the actor nor the director had a script for the new chapter in their lives: exile.

Haifa Street

Set in Baghdad in 2006, Haifa Street is one of the most dangerous places suffering from the civil war and violence that have plagued the city. When Ahmed is dropped off there on his way to his beloved Suad’s house to ask for her hand in marriage, he gets shot by Salam, an anxious young sniper who is living his own personal hell on a rooftop above. Suad desperately tries to save Ahmed, but Salam prevents anyone from approaching him. All hell breaks loose under the ominous presence of the American occupation.

 

Nicolas Pariser

Nicolas Pariser was born in Paris in 1974. After studying law, philosophy, art history and film, he became a film critic for the magazine Sofa in the early 2000s. He then spent four years collaborating with director Pierre Rissient. In 2008, he directed his first short "The Day Ségolène Won" which follows a socialist party activist on the day French President Nicolas Sarkozy was elected. The following year he directed his medium-length political film "The Republic" which won the Jean Vigo Award 2010.
