Synopsis

We are running straight into the most gigantic display of soundless fireworks in the world, and here we go to drop our bombs”. Culled from Israeli military propaganda materials from the ‘60s and ‘70s, Paradiso, XXXI, 108 regards (with irony) towards a “cinematic self-portrait of men playing war”, to quote its author.

Kamal Aljafari is a palestinian filmmaker, producer and artist interweaving fiction, non-fiction, and contemporary art. He is known for his films but also for his exhibitions. His work has been presented at the Berlinale, Locarno, and Rotterdam and in museums such as the MoMA and the Tate Modern. A graduate of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, he also attended Harvard as a Film Study Center-Radcliffe Fellow.
