With Abu Jamal

Synopsis
For almost 60 years, Abu Jamal has been selling single cigarettes and sweets to the locals in downtown Ramallah. Despite language barriers, the director decides to set up her camera in his shop and spend time with Abu Jamal. The social arena that emerges gives insight into how everyday life is shaped by an occupation that threatens both the shop and the Palestinian right to existence.

Siri Nerbø

Siri Nerbø (born 1986 in Norway) completed her Film Art Studies in 2018 with a focus on  documentary filmmaking. She is also educated as a sign language interpreter, and has done several artistic projects related to sound. Her short documentaries have been screened internationally, and she won her first prize for WHAT DOES IT MEAN? (2018) which received Honorable Mention at Bergen International Film Festival. Siri has a personal approach to filmmaking and the topics of identity and belonging always play a key role in her projects.

Maradona's Legs

 

Synopsis
During the 1990 World Cup, two young Palestinian boys are looking for “Maradona’s legs” - the last missing sticker that they need in order to complete their world cup album and win a free Atari.

Homenessness

 

Synopsis
At the age of 35, William loses his job, his wife, and his house. He thus decides to take refuge in nature as a way to heal himself. As a result, this journey ends up leading him to change his outlook on the concepts of home, materialism, and belonging as he begins to discover his new permanent place. HOMENESSNESS is an 18-minute observational documentary that depicts a journey towards peace, serenity, and the immaterial.

Ahmad Al-Bazz

Ahmad Al-Bazz, born in 1993, is a multi-award winning video-journalist, photographer and documentary filmmaker based in Nablus. He holds an MA in Film and Television Studies and Creative Practice from the University of East Anglia in the UK, and a BA in Media and Mass Communication from An-Najah National University in the West Bank. He has been a member of the Activestillsphoto collective since 2012. Ahmad’s first documentary film, TO MY MOTHER (2014) won several regional and international film awards. HOMENESSNESS is his second documentary film.

Him and I

 

Synopsis
A young woman in her mid-thirties lives an ordinary life between her work and home. Viewers discover, however, that she is living in a fantasy world, which she created in order to help tolerate her destiny.

Ibrahim Handal

Ibrahim Handal is a Palestinian filmmaker and cinematographer with a BA in Film Production from Dar al-Kalilma University College of Arts and Culture in Bethlehem. He directed a number of experimental short films and worked as Assistant Director and DoP on various films including AMBIANCE, which got Official Selection at Cinefondation at the Festival De Cannes - Winner in The Third Place. Ibrahim also worked as Lighting Assistant on THE REPORTS ON SARAH AND SALEEM (2019) feature film. His short film, HIM AND I, won the Audience Award at the Nordic Youth Film Festival - NUFF 2019. 

Gaza

 

Synopsis
Once the bombing of the Israeli aggression on Gaza stopped, the reality of the conflict also suddenly disappeared. GAZA takes us on a trip demonstrating the daily violations of human rights, the situation of blockade, and the state of war on the Palestinian population. Through this trip, we get to know those realities as revealed through the accounts of the people, their cities, and - to some extent - their history under the occupation of Israel.

Julio Pérez del Campo and Carles Bover Martínez

Julio Pérez del Campo (born in Spain in 1983) has a degree in Environmental Protection from the University of Ireland and in Environmental Sciences from URJC University. He taught film and photography at various schools, workshops, and UNED University, and pursued his master’s degree in Documentary and New Formats. Julio’s projects include GALERÍAS, CHRISTMASK, AUTORRETRATO, YHWH/LA SANGRE, LA TIERRA (selected in the MIFEC), ROAD, and LEZIONE DI ITALIAN (Official Section of the 2015 European Audiovisual Creation Competition).

نضال بدارنة

نضال بدارنة مخرج وممثل كوميدي فلسطيني من مواليد 1984. أسس وشارك في تأسيس بعض أهم المبادرات السينمائية والمسرحية الفلسطينية في الأراضي المحتلة عام 1948. وكان عمله الذي انتجه في "المنشر" فريدًا بحدّ ذاته لأنه يعتمد فقط على دعم المجتمع. في عام 2019، أطلق نضال مع شريكه Salimi Productions في حيفا. قام نضال بدرانة بإخراج فيلم 30 مارس (2013)، والقرويون (2017)، وانتظار فرج الله (2019).
